2019 April 06 Saturday

2019 April 06 Saturday in Liberty Hill, Texas

66° and cloudy but it looks like we may have dodged the bullet. Yesterday they were predicting high wind and hail for us this morning.

We received rain, thunder and lightning ends as under a tornado watch area until early evening.

Pene with homemade meat sauce.

Grandson Tate had a football game today. We didn't go, assuming they it would be cancelled because of the rain and lightening. Evidently, it didn't storm where they were, about 30 miles southeast from here.

While we were eating lunch, Adam called to say that Tate's team won 24 to 0. This is their second game and they are 2 & 0. We were invited to go over and spend the afternoon.

This photo doesn't really show how hard it was to see through the rain.

We were on Ronald Reagan bulkhead when suddenly there were barricades blocking the road. I had to drive all the way back to 183 and then over to 1431. It turned a 20 mile drive into a 40 mile drive. Three red line on this map it's the alternate route.

Later we got the news report that there had been a fatal crash on the road.

Once we arrived at Adam and Leigha's we had a nice visit and played a game of Fast Track with Adam and the kids.

The storm ended and the sunn came out for a while. We came home before 5.

As we were getting out of the truck our neighbor came over and askeded to borrow my jumper cables. Then later came and all for my help th3o open the battery box on his. trailor.

Before bed I placed a frozen brisket in the crockpot on low. I don't have a smoker so the crockpot will have to do.

G'night and God bless.

2019 April 05 Friday

rvingfulltimewithtomandella.com

2019 April 05 Friday in Liberty Hill, and Marble Falls, Texas

58° and foggy and remained overcast nearly all day.

We took a pickup load of aluminum cans to Hill County Recycling in Marble Falls today. In a combined service project and fund raiser, the Grandies group collects aluminum cans and then twice a year takes them to be recycled. For those in other states, Texas doesn't have a can/bottle deposit/redemtion law. So we kept a pickup load of cans out of the trash and earned us a whopping $17.10 to use toward Grandies ministries. But now for the alternative reason to go to Marble Falls, PIE!

Okay, now the third reason, time with friends.

A huge ball of fire slowly crashed to earth and set the horizon on fire! Oh wait ... this just in ... it was the sun.G'night and God bless.Visit my daily devotions blog https://musingsdevotions.wordpress.com

2019 April 04 Thursday

2019 April 04 Thursday in Liberty Hill, Texas

61° and partly cloudy this morning. That cleared up and reached 90°. Which maybe a record. And the answer is, yes we had the air conditioning on.

A jet makes a single slash across the morning sky.

We spent the late morning through 2:30 asst the Over the Hill Gang.

Ella had therapy from 3 to 4.

I crumpled and cooked about 5 pounds of hamburger then portioned it out into 5 Ziploc bags and froze them.

I didn't get a sunset photo tonight simply because I forgot to look out the window.

If this seems to be a boring post, imagine what it is to live it.

G'night and God bless.

2019 April 03 Wednesday in Liberty Hill, Texas

It started out at 53° under this overcast sky and topped out at 66° under the same overcast sky and was still at 63° at 10 p.m. with foggy mist.

Around 9 a.m. we arrived at the fellowship hall at Cross Tracks Church where our Grandies group meets every Wednesday.

One of the most important (in my opinion) parts of our meeting is our rollcall. It is how we stay connected with each other as we share our joys and concerns over the past week and near future events. This was also the week that we celebrate birthday birthdaysand anniversaries for the month. Of course we also played games after the official part its the meeting was over.

Once we were home, I dipped into our 4Patriots food supply and made some Farmers Market Corn Chowder. This is part of my continued testing of their emergency 3 month food supply. The soup was good though with a little more blank pepper than I put on my home made chowder.

In the evening Ella and I returned to the church for choir practice. This was also the day that we celebrated choir members birthdays and anniversaries with a communal meal.

Then we rehearsed music for the next few weeks. Choir is one of the things I'll miss most over the next four or five months when we go back to Iowa for the summer.

No sunset and no photo this evening.

G'night and God bless.

2019 April 02 Tuesday in Georgetown and Liberty Hill, Texas

39° and mostly clear all day which helped it reach 70°.

There weren't many people at the senior center door lunch today.

The sun was low in the west and glowing in these windows as we started our weekly prayer meeting in the chaple.

2019 April 01 Monday

2019 April 01 Monday in Georgetown and Liberty Hill, Texas

37° and mostly cloudy in the morning which is only 5° warmer than at our summer home in Grimes, Iowa. Is the weather playing an April Fools joke on us?

It was games and lunch at the Georgetown senior center

Then we stopped at our orthopedic surgeons to make the final payment for Ella's shoulder and to make an appointment for me to get steroid injections in my knees.

Then, believe it our not, we had to return to Wal-Mart ... AGAIN. Seriously, we had a good reason. Ella had another prescription at the pharmacy PLUS we were purchasing some items for a new ministry at Cross Tracks Church. From time to time homeless people or families come seeking food. Most of the time we refer then to Operation Liberty Hill, which the church supports. However, there are times when OLH is closed and the people are in need now. Our various Sunday school classes are purchasing items for the pastor to hand out to folks in need.

G'night and God bless.

2019 March 31 Sunday

2019 March 31 Sunday in Liberty Hill, Texas

40° and cloudy in the morning. And 56 was the high.

This is the sky half an hour after time for sunrise.

And this other photo was taken around 11

Normally Cross Tracks Church has two worship services on Sunday morning: a nine o'clock traditional and an eleven o'clock contemporary with Sunday school at ten. Four times a year there are five Sundays in a month. When those fifth Sundays occur we have a combined service at eleven that is a mix of traditional and contemporary. And then we have a potluck after worship. This was the fifth Sunday in March.

If you are interested in the service you can follow the link below

https://youtu.be/ad4Q21m3NhA

The overcast sky gave way to pure sunshine around 2:30.

And as the sun slowly sat in the west the temperature began to drop into the 40s.

G'night and God bless.

2019 March 30 Saturday

2019 March 30 Saturday in Liberty Hill, Texas

61° and partly cloudy in the morning. It became cloudier, windier, and colder as the day went on. The high of 64° was around ten this morning and it was 48° at ten at night.

I did some outside work this morning whole Ella slept in. I did some repair work on the spit where the awning support attaches to the wall. I also emptied the bed of the pickup to make room for bags of aluminum cans that our Grandies group has collected. Friday we will take then to the recycler inn Marble Falls. We will also eat at the Blue Bonnet Cafe.

After spending around $300 on Wednesday's shopping it is hard to believe that we needed to go back again today. Mostly out was for Ella's prescription that brought us back but we still found other things that we could spend money on while we waited for the prescriptions tho fee filled.

.

No sunset photo because there was no noticeable sunset.

G'night and God bless.

2019 March 29 Friday

2019 March 29 Friday in Liberty Hill was Leander, Texas

61° and cloudy in the morning and 73° for the high.

No morning photo due to overcast sky.

After breakfast we went to the laundromat to do a mountain our laundry.

We waited until sporting break was over to do laundry. We thought the place might be more active with kiss home from school. There were only two other people fought laundry today.

Another burnt orange sky.

G'night and God bless.

THINKING THE WAY GOD THINKS

MUSINGS - March 28, 2019

THINKING THE WAY GOD THINKS

Matthew 16:21-23
From that time on Jesus began to inform his disciples that he had to go to Jerusalem. There he would have to suffer a lot because of the leaders, chief priests, and scribes. He would be killed, but on the third day he would be brought back to life. Peter took him aside and objected to this. He said, "Heaven forbid, Lord! This must never happen to you!" But Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get out of my way, Satan! You are tempting me to sin. You aren't thinking the way God thinks but the way humans think."

Jesus was more to Peter than his master and teacher. Peter loved Jesus as a friend and also he had just declared his belief that Jesus was the Messiah and Son of God. Peter was upset by this talking about Jesus being killed. For one thing Peter assumed that the Messiah would set up an earthly kingdom and free Israel from domination by the Romans. It was unthinkable that the Messiah would suffer and die.

Peter took Jesus aside and privately began to rebuke him for talking about suffering and dying. He said, “Lord, may God never permit that to happen to you! That must certainly not happen!”

Then Jesus turned to look at Peter, and he said to him, “Stop talking to me like that. Stop saying what Satan would say." Remember in Matthew 4:8-9 that the devil took Jesus on top of a very high mountain. There he showed him all the nations in the world and the magnificent things in those nations. And then he said to him, “I will let you rule all these nations and give you the magnificent things in them if you bow down and worship me.” So, truly Peter was tempting Jesus in the same way that Satan had.

Jesus rebuked Peter for trying to prevent what God has planned! He said to Peter, "You are a hindrance to me, because you are not thinking like God thinks. Instead, you are thinking like people think!”

We are human and we think like mortal people. We are so concerned with this present existence that we often forget that we are eternal beings. This body that we inhabit will one day passaway. However, we have an imperishable body that will live forever with God. God is mindful of our earthly life but His main focus is on our eternal soul.

Satan can ever only tempt us with things of this earthly life. He will dangle wealth, power, and all the pretty baubles of this physical existence to try and distract us from thinking of our spiritual life. Do not be fooled.

The apostle Paul put it this way in Philippians 2:3-8,  "Nothing should be done out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility lift others up above yourselves, considering not only your own interests but also the interests of others. Let the spirit of Christ Jesus be yours also. Though the divine nature was his from the beginning, yet he did not look on equality with God as above all things to be clung to, but impoverished himself by taking the nature of a servant and becoming like one of us; he appeared among us as a man, and still further humbled himself by submitting even to death — to death on a cross! 2019 March 26 Tuesday

2019 March 26 Tuesday in Liberty Hill and Cedar Park, Texas

50° and clear. It reached 77°.

We were on our way to the VA before the sun came up.

The VA clinic clinic wss so close to getting sunshine when we arrived, notice the sun on the treetops.

I used the kiosk to get checked in. It seems to only work part of the times that I've tried to use it. A great idea poorly executed.

I got in to see the doctor amazingly quick. My lab results were all good. However, there was a slight problem, there was no results for an A1C test. That's the test to determine how well my diabetes is controlled. It's kind of a big thing. The reality meant I had to go through the blood draw again. It didn't Dawnpin me until later that I've always been required to be fasting for those tests ... and today I wasn't. I wonder how badly that skews the results.

We arrived quite early at the senior center today.

Which meant that we had time to play several rounds of Fast Track.

And also some Rummikube.

G'night and God bless.
