2019 March 29 Friday

2019 March 29 Friday in Liberty Hill was Leander, Texas

61° and cloudy in the morning and 73° for the high.

No morning photo due to overcast sky.

After breakfast we went to the laundromat to do a mountain our laundry.

We waited until sporting break was over to do laundry. We thought the place might be more active with kiss home from school. There were only two other people fought laundry today.

Another burnt orange sky.

G'night and God bless.

THINKING THE WAY GOD THINKS

MUSINGS - March 28, 2019

THINKING THE WAY GOD THINKS

Matthew 16:21-23
From that time on Jesus began to inform his disciples that he had to go to Jerusalem. There he would have to suffer a lot because of the leaders, chief priests, and scribes. He would be killed, but on the third day he would be brought back to life. Peter took him aside and objected to this. He said, "Heaven forbid, Lord! This must never happen to you!" But Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get out of my way, Satan! You are tempting me to sin. You aren't thinking the way God thinks but the way humans think."

Jesus was more to Peter than his master and teacher. Peter loved Jesus as a friend and also he had just declared his belief that Jesus was the Messiah and Son of God. Peter was upset by this talking about Jesus being killed. For one thing Peter assumed that the Messiah would set up an earthly kingdom and free Israel from domination by the Romans. It was unthinkable that the Messiah would suffer and die.

Peter took Jesus aside and privately began to rebuke him for talking about suffering and dying. He said, “Lord, may God never permit that to happen to you! That must certainly not happen!”

Then Jesus turned to look at Peter, and he said to him, “Stop talking to me like that. Stop saying what Satan would say." Remember in Matthew 4:8-9 that the devil took Jesus on top of a very high mountain. There he showed him all the nations in the world and the magnificent things in those nations. And then he said to him, “I will let you rule all these nations and give you the magnificent things in them if you bow down and worship me.” So, truly Peter was tempting Jesus in the same way that Satan had.

Jesus rebuked Peter for trying to prevent what God has planned! He said to Peter, "You are a hindrance to me, because you are not thinking like God thinks. Instead, you are thinking like people think!”

We are human and we think like mortal people. We are so concerned with this present existence that we often forget that we are eternal beings. This body that we inhabit will one day passaway. However, we have an imperishable body that will live forever with God. God is mindful of our earthly life but His main focus is on our eternal soul.

Satan can ever only tempt us with things of this earthly life. He will dangle wealth, power, and all the pretty baubles of this physical existence to try and distract us from thinking of our spiritual life. Do not be fooled.

The apostle Paul put it this way in Philippians 2:3-8,  "Nothing should be done out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility lift others up above yourselves, considering not only your own interests but also the interests of others. Let the spirit of Christ Jesus be yours also. Though the divine nature was his from the beginning, yet he did not look on equality with God as above all things to be clung to, but impoverished himself by taking the nature of a servant and becoming like one of us; he appeared among us as a man, and still further humbled himself by submitting even to death — to death on a cross! 2019 March 26 Tuesday

2019 March 26 Tuesday in Liberty Hill and Cedar Park, Texas

50° and clear. It reached 77°.

We were on our way to the VA before the sun came up.

The VA clinic clinic wss so close to getting sunshine when we arrived, notice the sun on the treetops.

I used the kiosk to get checked in. It seems to only work part of the times that I've tried to use it. A great idea poorly executed.

I got in to see the doctor amazingly quick. My lab results were all good. However, there was a slight problem, there was no results for an A1C test. That's the test to determine how well my diabetes is controlled. It's kind of a big thing. The reality meant I had to go through the blood draw again. It didn't Dawnpin me until later that I've always been required to be fasting for those tests ... and today I wasn't. I wonder how badly that skews the results.

We arrived quite early at the senior center today.

Which meant that we had time to play several rounds of Fast Track.

And also some Rummikube.

G'night and God bless.

2019 March 23 Saturday

2019 March 23 Saturday in Liberty Hill , Texas

60° and cloudy. It barely made it to 70° under a completely cloudy day.

It was a hazy lazy day. We had no place that we HAD to be so we saw no reason to hurry out out bed. Not that we slept longer. We just may abed and did things on our phones. Ella played games, read and wrote messages while I worked on my devotional blog, MusingsFevotionals.WordPress.com http://MusingsDevotionals.WordPress.com.

By ten fifteen my bladder coaxed me out out bed. Heaving satisfied that need, I dressed ends went to the kitchen to start breakfast. Two eggs, one crisp bacon, and multigrain toast. Ella had coffee and I had ice tea (not sweet).

Back on March 7th I posted on my Random Thoughts blog how too make a Buddy Burner. I still had a can, some corrugated cardboard, and some left over wax. So today I made one .more - almost. As it turned out, I didn't have quite enough wax. There it's something good to remember when making three things. Even when the can has cooled to just above room temperature, the wax inside it's still molten. I mention this because - that's right, I spilled hot wax on my hand and the kitchen counter. Now I really need more wax to finish this last burner.

G'night and God bless.

2019 March 22 Friday

2019 March 22 Friday in Leander and Liberty Hill , Texas

49° and mostly clear with the full moon still in the western sky this morning. It reached 76° this afternoon before clouding over.[caption width="2582"][/caption]

Good Morning, Moon![caption width="1549"]Good Morning, Sun![/caption]

After lunch we drove tho the Leander United Methodist church tho play games

50+ Game Day at the Leander UMC is a once a month event. People bring their favorite games to share with others. We took both our Fast Track game and Rummikube. Bill and Karen usually come and play Fast Track with us. However, they weren't there today. The other tables already had enough players for their games. That meant that Ella and I played against each other. We could Have stayed home and done that.

For lunch I made a corn chowder in the Instapot. With the lid removed, I chopped chopped 4 thick cut pieces of bacon into bite size bits and sauteed them. I grated a fist size potatoe and two carrots into the pot, still on saute. I had a couple small pieces of celery that I also chopped and added to the mix.

I kept it stirred so that the veggies would be heated but not browned. Though I usually use frozen corn, this time I incorporated a can of corn (not drained) and an equal amount of milk.

With the pot still on saute, the chowder was brought to a boil. At that point I cancelled saute mode and turned the pot to slow cook with the lid on and the vent open.

Over the next hour and a half I would occasionally stir it to keep the milk from breaking down or foaming over. I could also have added butter or oil to keep it from foaming. However, after a taste test, I decided against adding anything other than salt and pepper.

When it was served, I added a small dollop of sour cream which is totally optional.

It was good enough that we had the leftover for supper.

No photo tonight because it was completely cloudy and no sunset was seen.

Today seemed like Saturday to me. Now I'll Have a whole 'nother Saturday tomorrow.

G'night and God bless.

2019 March 19 Tuesday

2019 March 19 Tuesday in Georgetown and Liberty Hill , Texas

46° partly cloudy and rain showers in the morning.

Captured several nice pivots this morning

There wasn't a very big group asst the senior center today. Maybe it was the meal. We had a small burger with a choice of chips or tater tots.

We made a short stop at Wal-Mart fora few items that we need before next week.

Ella had her therapy an hour later today. Maybe they were backing put of daylight savings.

Not a bad sunset.

G'night and God bless.

2019 March 21 Thursday

2019 March 21 Thursday in Liberty Hill , Texas

I slept over eight hours last night. Well technically, I only 2 minutes last night. Sleep started at 11:58 on. Anyway ... before I sidetracked myself ... the point was ... I slept a L---O---N---G time. Normally, I average five to six hours of sleep.

41° and clear this morning. It reached 79° by 1 pm and stayed right there until sundown. By all accounts it was a great first full day of spring.

We arrived at Over the Hill Gang about 10:45 and started playing Fast Track. The first game was just Ella and I. By the second game, Naomi and Lu joined us. We had just finished the game when lunchtime arrived. Brats, sauerkraut, and beans. It was good even if the brats were a little overcooked for my tastes. After lunch the 4 of us were joined by Ann and Charlotte for a few games of canasta. We had to stop the last hand at 2:50 because of Ella's therapy appointment at 3. One of the joys of small town living is that nothing is too far away (except malls).

Ella didn't come out from therapy until about 4:10. I ask if she had been kept after class for bad behaviour. No, she'd just been talking to someone.

G'night and God bless.

2019 March 20 Wednesday

2019 March 20 Wednesday in Liberty Hill , Texas

41° partly cloudy in the morning[caption width="2582"][/caption]

That light isn't the sun it's a security light.

It was too cloudy for a Sunday photo

Today we went to Grandies, as usual on Wednesdays. However, our church parking lot is being repaired and restriped this week. Therefore, we were unable to meet in the fellowship hall. Thankfully, we were allowed to meet at the Over the Hill Gang's building this week.

This image is not really the true sunset. It is maybe ten degrees north of the sunset, which under deep dark clouds.

G'night and God bless.

2019 March 18 Monday in Georgetown and Liberty Hill , Texas

41° mostly cloudy. That's kinda freaky, it's exactly like yesterday's morning weather.

The morning was very cloudy so ... These were the best pictures I got with a little color in the sky.

Today, as usual, we went to the senior center in Georgetown for lunch.
