From Wikipedia: A Buddy Burner is a simple stove made from a can and part of a corrugated paper box. It is usually fueled by paraffin wax but other fuels, such as boiled butter, animal fat or diesel fuel, can be used. It is usually used for cooking but can also provide heat.
To make a burner, you will need a shallow can such as tuna, lots of corrugated cardboard, pencil or pen, sharp knife or scissors, needle nose pliers, and a small candle (optional). You will also need melted wax. You may use canning wax (paraffin) or melted candles. DO NOT MELT WAX OVER OPEN FLAME!!!
Use the can as a guide for the width of the cardboard strips.
Cut the cardboard into strips
Cut the candle the same height as the strips so that the wick will protrude above the stove top. It was a lucky coincidence that I could cut mine in two.
Trim the cut candle so that the wick it's exposed.
Using the needle nose pliers, begin forming a coil off cardboard.
Insert the coil into the can and the candle into the middle. You are now ready to pour the melted wax into the can.
Once again, do NOT heat the wax over an OPEN FLAME. The molten wax becomes quite volatile. Some people say to use a double boiler. Because the wax is nearly impossible to get out out the pan on clean up, I would rather heat it in a disposable can sitting in a pot of boiling water.
